What changed for Texas drivers?

Since January 1, 2025, Texas has not required a safety inspection for non-commercial vehicle registration. Commercial vehicle inspection requirements remain in place. Texas DPS inspection requirements

Emissions testing is still required for certain vehicles registered in designated counties. Bell County is not currently an emissions-testing county. Requirements depend on your vehicle and where it is registered, so check the current DPS emissions guidance and TxDMV registration guidance before renewing.

This service does not provide a Texas state inspection certificate or satisfy a required commercial or emissions inspection.

Does Kwik Lube on Clear Creek Road still perform Texas state inspections?

Do Bell County drivers still need an inspection to renew registration?

Texas no longer requires a safety inspection for non-commercial vehicle registration, and Bell County is not currently an emissions-testing county. Commercial inspection requirements still apply. Can this check replace a required emissions or commercial inspection?

No. Our optional check does not satisfy those requirements or provide a Texas state inspection certificate. Review the Texas DPS inspection requirements for the type of inspection your vehicle needs.
